Description
As the most abundant non-protein thiol in cells, glutathione’s redox cycling between reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) states makes it a core reagent in oxidative stress research. Investigators use it to study glutathione peroxidase and glutathione-S-transferase enzymatic activity, cellular detoxification of reactive oxygen species and xenobiotics, and the GSH/GSSG ratio as a biomarker in cell-culture and animal models.
